In 1992, Lower Mainland Vegetable Distributors Inc. was established to ensure the orderly marketing of root crop vegetables produced in the Fraser Valley.

In 2007 we changed our name to BCfresh to better represent the unparalleled freshness of our produce and the incomparable level of service you can always expect from our distribution network and our growers. We are also 100% owned and operated by BC growers.

Today, BCfresh vegetables are meticulously grown on 32 family farms throughout the Fraser Valley, many of the families going back four generations. Together, they have combined sales of over 65,000 tons of root crops per annum. That represents a retail value of BCfresh Vegetable crops to our province of more than $100 million every year.

Primarily the Redsen and Chieftain varieties, which are slightly oblong in shape with a red skin, creamy white flesh and shallow eyes. Red potatoes have a waxier cell structure and are excellent for boiling, steaming, pan frying and using in potato salads. Red potatoes are available from July to May, almost a year-round supply. Also available as a small "Nugget" potato.
